Junior Sailing Positions - Summer 2024

The Duxbury Yacht Club's junior sailing department is hiring experienced, motivated and enthusiastic 420 Coaches, Opti Race Coaches and Senior Instructors for our 2024 season.

With a fleet of 6 new club 420s, 6 new Optimists, and a great 2023 season under our belt, we are excited our growing program and are looking for coaches and instructors who are passionate about racing and willing to go the extra mile to support the Race Team’s development. This position has the potential to extend into next year if the applicant is a good fit with the program.

The Duxbury Yacht Club is located in the historic seaside community of Duxbury, Massachusetts. An hour south of Boston and close to Cape Cod, Duxbury is home to a beautiful tidal bay.

With over 50 sailors, the junior sailing program teaches sailors from ages 6-16 in all aspects of seamanship and sportsmanship with classes ranging from young sailors to competitive racing and travel to local and regional events.  Our fleet includes Optis and prams, 420s, O'pen Bics, Hartleys and Sandpipers (Marshall 15s).  Our 8-week program runs from mid-June to mid-August.

The ideal candidate is an experienced racer and coach, and also a capable and safety conscious leader who will organize practices, manage regatta logistics and communicate with families throughout the summer. We are looking for an individual with strong communication and leadership skills, a fun and creative mindset, and experience trailering and traveling to local and regional regattas. The coaches and instructors will also be responsible for growing our race program and working with other instructors to develop younger sailors transitioning to the next level.

*Candidates are required to hold a minimum US Sailing Level 1 certification (or equivalent) and a valid CPR/First Aid certification prior to employment. Experience coaching at College or High School level preferred.

*Competitive pay commensurate with experience. Possibility of housing for qualified candidates.
